Z1 SecureMail MessengerZ1 SecureMail Messenger enables a confidential exchange of e-mail with everyone. Communication simply occurs password encrypted via a web browser or (New!) via encrypted PDF.The advantages at a glanceA quick summary of the most important advantages of Z1 SecureMail Messenger:
|
![]() ![]() |
- Z1 Messenger is a fully developed product, which satisfies high technical requirements. Its hosting and multi-client capabilities, possible use as a cluster and the extensive account management possibilities speak for themselves.
Solution approach
The communication occurs without X.509 certificates or PGP keys . The user makes use of what is at hand. In addition to an e-mail client that could be:
- a web browser,
- Adobe Reader.

Delivery methods
How password-based encryption should occur with external contacts depends on the delivery method. Currently there exist the following three delivery methods:
- Z1 WebSafe: Instead of by e-mail, the message is exchanged over a web interface call “Z1 WebSafe”. For the user Z1 WebSafe feels just like a “secure webmailer”.
- Z1 KickMail: The message is sent as an encrypted HTML attachment by e-mail. The decryption occurs online with help from a web interface.
- Z1 KickMail-PDF: The message is sent as an encrypted PDF attachment by e-mail. Decryption occurs at the recipient.

Deployment scenarios
There are different options for the deployment of Z1 SecureMail Messenger:
- Deployment scenario „Standalone“: If an organization chooses the „Standalone“ deployment scenario, then all confidential e-mail traffic is handled by Z1 Messenger. In this scenario members of an organization communicate password encrypted with external contacts. This scenario is ideal for a law firm whose customers do not possess the required PKI technology.
- Deployment scenario „Combination with Z1 Station/Gateway“: An organization that chooses this scenario gets a solution that enables both password encrypted and PKI-based e-mail traffic when it is needed. Z1 Messenger is implemented here together with a Z1 Station/Gateway. An insurance company can communicate with its customers using password encryption, as they are unlikely to possess PKI technology, and use PKI with contacts who not only use PKI but also demand it.

Use
When is this scenario implemented?
- This scenario is suitable for organizations whose external contacts do not use or possess PKI technology.
- Organizations where the majority of its business relationships lie in the B2C sector can particularly benefit from this scenario.
- the easiest possible scenario.
- a typical Business-To-Consumer scenario.
